Good Evening Softball Families!
We are excited to announce that registration for our Lexington Girls Fall Softball program begins TODAY. Head over to www.lgssc.com and register early. The cost of registration is $85. Registration will include a jersey, belt and socks. (Pants will not be provided) Girls ages 3-18 years old are eligible to participate, so help us spread the word and make this our most successful season ever! If you would like to try on a jersey for size or if you need assistance with online registration please contact any of our board members.
Some information about our Fall Season: ALL new and returning players must plan on assessing for Fall Ball. If a player cannot make assessments they will still placed on a team, but has a "hat pick" Assessments are scheduled for the evenings of August 23rd ad 24th and practices would then begin the week of August 29th. Please see below for important dates for the Fall Schedule.
To reiterate our NEW COUNTY AGE DIVISIONS, our age divisions will now be: 6U for 4-6 year olds; 8U for 7 and 8 year olds; 10U for 9 and 10 year olds; 12U for 11 and 12 year olds; 14U for 13 and 14 year olds; and 18U for 15-18 year olds. All ages are determined by age as of January 1st per softball regulations. You MUST be at least 15 to play in the 18U league. We are making an exception for THIS season only, if you have played 16U in the past for at least 2 seasons and would like to play at the higher level, we will take it in a case by case situation and make a determination based on player. There will not be permissions granted to move up into the 18U division after this season.
Our Fall Ball registration will begin with the early bird special on June 20th through July 1st and then Open Registration will begin July 2nd through August 7th. Assessments will be held on August 23rd and 24th. Coaches Draft will be on August 26th with practices beginning August 29th. Our opening ceremony will be held on Friday, September 16th and games begin September 20th. Last day of games will be Thursday, November 3rd with our End of Year tournament on November 6th. PLEASE TAKE NOTE OF THESE DATES SO THAT YOU CAN PLAN FOR THESE.
Last week, we met with LCRAC to make decisions on the upcoming Fall Season. We wanted to inform everyone of these changes that will be implemented for this season.
1. Fall Season is going to be referred to as INSTRUCTIONAL SEASON. Fall season was created for learning and improvement, not for competition. We are focusing heavily on teaching and learning.
2. Score will NOT be kept by the league and we will not be turning on the scoreboards. Coaches may keep their own score as they wish but as a league we will not be keeping track of wins/losses. We will however hold an end of season tournament that will be competitive. This will be held on November 6th.
3. Games times will be "no starting a new inning after 60 minutes; drop dead at 75 minutes".
4. Roster batting is required and free defensive substitutions are allowed and do not need to be reported.
5. Rotate players each inning. No player shall sit out 2 consecutive innings. All players must play 2 positions before time limit expires.
6. 10U pitching will be rotated between live pitch and machine pitch. Game will alternate between each unless otherwise decided by BOTH coaches.
7. Should a team's parent/spectator be ejected from a game/facility for any reason will result in the ejection of the teams head coach. Coaches will be held accountable for their team's parent, fans and spectators. If there is any issues that need to be addressed, please speak to a board member immediately.
8. Coaches are allowed and encouraged to use their two time outs as learning opportunities during the game when a play is not conducted properly.
