Kristina Douglas Resigns as President of Lexington Girls’ Softball
 

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

(Lexington, SC, October 18, 2017 ) – The Lexington Girls’ Softball Board of Directors announced today that Kristina Douglas has officially resigned from her post as President of Lexington Girls’ Softball, effective October 16, 2017.

In her statement, Douglas said, “Today I am grateful for the opportunity I was given to serve our league family over the past four months. I am thankful for the families I have come to know and the board members who I consider friends. I have realized how blessed we are to have returning players and parents each season, a beautiful facility, and a strong caring board. I have given the league my all these past four months and although very rewarding, I regretfully must resign as President of Lexington Girls' Softball. This was a personal decision, and our board members have been nothing but supportive. My family and I are more appreciative than ever for the board members who will continue to carry the torch and the love and acceptance we have received.”

In accordance with the league by-laws, First Vice President, Burnie Flake is now the President of LGS and will finish the term of the resigning president. Flake has been on the LGS Board of Directors as First Vice President for more than three years, and in that time has been an advocate for our athletes and a voice for all members of our league. He has done all this while coaching teams and volunteering to help with any task to improve Lexington Girls’ Softball.

The Board of Directors would like to thank Douglas for her hard work and dedication to the league while she served as President.
New league President Burnie Flake has the experience, passion, and knowledge about league operations and the game of softball to lead LGS as we experience rapid growth each season.

“I would like to thank Kristina for her leadership and all of the work she has put into LGS over the course of the last four months. As President, the board and I will continue to be advocates and a voice for all members of our softball family. I look forward to continuing to work with our dedicated Board of Directors to create the best experience for all of our coaches, players, and parents at LGS,” said Flake.

On Friday, October 20, 2017, at 6:30 p.m., the Lexington Girls Softball Board of Directors will hold its regular monthly meeting. The meeting takes place at Lexington Girls Softball facility located at 1159 Nazareth Rd in Lexington, SC. At this meeting, the Board will review in season operations and other matters. We invite the public to attend.

LGS is a non-profit entity whose mission is to teach young girls the game of softball. We promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, self-esteem, and development of athletic skills. Lexington Girls Softball is proud to be the premier softball league in Lexington County.
